A Home For Your Heart

What You Should Know

Who We Are

We are a fellowship of like minded believers who desire to serve God and others.

It is our desire to reach out to all people as commanded by our Savior, Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Our Philosophy

We believe that we are to be ministers of reconciliation and are moved to action by the words of Ezekiel 34:16, "I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick..."

In this age, we are bombarded by the constant distractions of daily life.   There are many that have been wounded, discouraged, and driven to disgrace by organized religion.  We are not about religion but relationship. It is our desire to extend to you, the love of Christ and His people.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see souls saved, baptized and educated in Bible Doctrine through instruction, discipleship and relationship with mature believers in Jesus Christ.

We will reach out through local community focused ministry and outreach.  We will strive to provide strong family oriented ministry to all in attendance. We will provide prayer and financial support of Worldwide Missions to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ as described in Matthew 28:19-20.

We pledge to use our talents for God's glory and to worship with one heart, being supportive and maintaining the sense of family at Grandview, all of which is essential for both the spiritual and physical growth of God's Church.

Why Do I Need To Be Saved?

Adam was created innocent, not perfect. He was given the freedom and ability to reason and make choices.

God gave him one command in Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

Needless to say, he failed. That failure is known as "SIN". Since he failed to obey God, all of his decendants  are sinners.

Romans 3:23 states "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

What if I'm a good person?

As good as you may be, anything less than perfect is not good enough.

Romans 3:10 says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one:"

And then in Isaiah 64:6, the scripture says, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind; have taken us away."

James 2:10 states, "For whosoever shall keep the while law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

What Happens If I Don't Get Saved?

The same thing happens to you that God promised would happen to Adam, "Thou shalt surely die."

Romans 3:23 tells us, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Wages here is considered to be the "Deserved Penalty" for sin.

This does not mean you die and cease to exist. The death of the physical body is just part of it. The comes the judgment.

Hebrews 9:11 tells us, "And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

A guilty verdict brings about an Eternal Death Sentence, separated from God, the Second Death.

What Is The Second Death?

Revelation 21:8 tells us that it is a place for "...the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Matthew 25:30 says, "And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Revelation 20:14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

As you see above, the second death is separation from God in outer darkness, suffering eternal torment in an unquenchable fire with weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Aren't There Many Ways To Heaven?

Not according to the Bible.

John 14:6 " Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Only one paid the price for salvation. His name is Jesus.

John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosover believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the through him might be saved."

Romans 5:8 says that, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

Ephesians 2:8 says, "For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What Does It Take To Become Saved?

The answer is in Romans 10:9-10 where the Bible says, "9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Are you ready? Do you believe?

God is waiting to welcome you into His family. Talk to God right now, ask him for salvation through His son Jesus Christ.

This is a simple prayer,

God, have mercy on me, I am a sinner. I believe in your Son Jesus Christ. I believe that he died for my sin and that he rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and my life and save me from my sin. Thank you for your love and your gift of salvation. In Jesus name I ask this, Amen.

Is Baptism Important?

You have all heard the saying, "If it walks like a duck, and it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, it must be a duck." Believe it or not, this is the same principle being applied when considering Baptism. Think about it.

What was the first thing Jesus before beginning His earthly ministry?

HE GOT BAPTIZED! Therefore, as Christians, we are to be Christ like. We are to walk like Christ, Talk like Christ, look or act like Christ and be Baptized like Christ. Lets look at what the scripture says about this.

Baptism should be your first act of obedience to God after you are saved. It does not require any special talent or training. Anyone has the ability to be Baptized.

We are baptized as a matter of having a good conscience toward God as 1 Peter 3:21 tells us, "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"

Also, Matthew 3:12-15 says that Jesus was being obedient to God when He was baptized. He led by example in Luke 3:21-22.

According to Romans 6:1-7, the purpose of baptism is to publicly identify you with Christ as an outward testimony of your inward decision to follow Him and that through baptism we picture His death, burial and resurrection. Galatians 3:26-28

Who Should Be Baptized?

Anyone who has accepted Christ as their personal Savior according to the requirements stated in Romans 10:9-13. That is Belief, Faith and Confession. You will find that no one in scripture is baptized except believers. NO BABIES!

Baptism is an act of obedience and requires a personal decision after conversion. Babies lack the capacity to make these decisions.

How Should A Person Be Baptized?

First, the word "Baptize" is derived from the Greek word "Baptiso" which literally means to immerse or submerge. This being said, there is only one sensible answer, a believer should be totally immersed under water.  Why?, How else could it be a symbolic picture of the burial of Christ. They didn't just lay Jesus on the ground and sprinkle a little dirt on Him. They placed His body inside a tomb, completely surrounded by the earth just as in baptism, the believer should be completely submerged underneath the water.  How could it be symbolic of Jesus resurrection without being raised out of the water just as Christ emerged out of the tomb. Acts 8:26-39 is a good reference.

Secondly, we should be baptized in the same manner as Jesus was. According to Matthew 3:16 we find the He was all the way under the water. When Philip baptized the Eunuch we find that both were in the water; Acts 8:38, "And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him."

Thirdly, according to Matthew 28:19-20, believers are to be baptized in the name of the FAther, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Where Should A Believer Be Baptized?

The location is not important. What is important is that there is enough water to completely submerge the believer under water. It could be a formal baptismal pool, river, creek, swimming pool or water tank.

If possible, it should be done in the presence of witnesses as it is a public display of you acceptance of Christ and obedience to God. Even if there are no witnesses available, there is always the witness of the person performing the baptism.

How Important Is Baptism To A Believer?

First, Baptism is not a requirement for salvation.

Secondly, it is a command of God. How can a believer be an obedient Child of God without being baptized? Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.. Amen."

Also on Acts 10:48, "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."

Third, if you can't be faithful and obedient in something so simple as baptism, how can you be faithful, obedient and successful in the big things such as witnessing, ministering, and seeing to the needs of others. Matthew 25:21 tells us, "His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Does Eternal Really Mean Forever?

Yes, once saved, always saved. Here it is in simple terms.

When a child is adopted, the court sets certain standards and requirements that are not negotiable. One of these requirements is that of "Guaranteed Inheritance." A father has the right to disinherit a natural born child, but is required by law to grant inheritance to the adopted child. Similarly, when you get saved, God adopts you and guarantees your inheritance of

Eternal Life. Following are some verses for verification of the doctrine from God's point of view.

Galatians 4:4-6,  "4 But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."  (The term "Abba" is the equivilant of "Daddy" in the Hebrew language.

Romans 8:14-16, " 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself  beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

Romans 8:22-23, "22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.."

Ephesians 1:4-6, "4 According as HE hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: 5 Having  predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved."

Can A Believer Do Anything To Lose Their Salvation?

NO! Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that believers  did nothing to earn their salvation. It's a FREE GIFT, therefore it is not yours to lose.

Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace ye are saved through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord: It is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.

According to Galatians 3:10, if salvation were dependant on our ability to obey the law, we could easily lose it because we are not perfect. Praise God that we are kept by the blood of Christ, and not ourselves.

Did Jesus Say Anything About Eternal Security?

In John 6:37 Jesus said this, "All that he Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

There is nothing that will cause God to cast you out. John 10:27-30 tells us that no man can cause you to lose your salvation. Here is what it says, "27 My sheep here my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand, 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.

Can Satan or his Demons steal a believer's salvation or cause them to lose it?

NO! Romans 8:38-39 says it all, "38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall separate us from the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ our Lord."

In John 14:1-4 we have this promise from Christ Himself, "1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself ; that where I am, you may be also. 4 And whither I go, ye know, and the way, ye know.

Is There Any Proof Of Eternal Security?

Yes, God repeatedly promised it to us! Think of the most well known verse in the Bible, John 3:16, "For God so Loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosover, believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." Some other references are; John 10:27-28, John 17:1-3 and 1 John 2:24-26.

God cannot and does not lie!

In Titus 1:2 it says, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"

Also in Hebrews 6:18 we find, "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast..."

God is the Father of the believer and the believer is His child. John 1:12-15

The believer is sealed by the Holy Spirit of God. Ephesians 1:13-14

It is the believer's inheritance from the Father. Titus 3:5, " Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; 7 that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (see also, Romans 8:16-18, Matthew 25:34, Acts 26:18, Ephesians 1:11-18, Colossians 1:12 & 3:24, 1 Peter 1:3-5, and Revelation 21:7.)

What Is The Bottom Line, The Basis For Belief?

FACT: The Bible is the infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). In the Bible, you find the Facts which you base your Faith and your Feeling. These include the Birth, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible also includes the promises of God for Salvation and Eternal Life.
